Today, we had our second computer class. We are still practicing logging in, but I think we're getting a little bit faster at it. :-) Then, we got to play on TuxPaint again. They love TuxPaint because they get to be very creative.
Here we are in our computer class (that's the computer teacher in the picture):

First Big Art Project!
Today, we did our first big art project, which is now hanging in the hallway outside our door. We made apple cores. The students were able to practice their cutting and gluing skills. Also, it was very important that they listened and followed the directions and they all did! Don't worry, I will be sending the apples home after we've showed them off in the hallway for awhile.
Today, we also had our first computer class! They learned how to log in to the computer, and they were able to play on the computer program called TuxPaint. It was another great week, and I can't wait for Monday (after I get some rest, of course).

Second Week of School!
Well, we are into our second week of school. We are having a great time in the classroom. We're learning how to follow directions and we're learning the routines and rules of school. Today, was an exciting day because we went to library for the first time! We didn't get to check out books this week, but we did get to meet the librarian and hear a fun story. We can't wait for next week when we get to check out books! Remember tomorrow night is Parent Information Night. I hope to see all of you there! Now, it's time for some pictures!

First Day of School!
Today, was a great first day of school. There were a few tears but later I had several students say they loved school, which made my heart soar. I'll give you a short summary of their first day of school, since many of them might say, "I don't know what I did." :-) We colored, learned about class jobs, did calendar, learned 2 calendar songs, had 2 recesses, lunch, rested, read 2 stories, did small, short centers at their tables, went to Explorations, Art, and had a snack. Whew! It was a long day! All in all, it was great and I can't wait for tomorrow! Here are 4 pictures from their first chance at centers today:

Welcome to the class!
I am very excited for my second year of teaching kindergarten at McCarter. I can't wait to get to meet all of my students. I have created this blog for parents to get a glimpse of what their children are doing in kindergarten. I know kindergarten can be exciting and scary for both students AND parents. Hopefully, this blog will ease your fears and let you share in the fun and the learning. Also, your children might enjoy looking at the blog and reliving the experiences through the pictures.
First, I wanted to share a little about myself. This is my second year of teaching. I graduated from Washburn University in May 2008. Here is the love of my life, my dog Sadie :-)
I enjoy taking her on walks and playing ball with her. I also enjoy going to the zoo with my nephew, Ivan:
And I love playing board games with my niece, Isabella:
I am looking forward to getting to know all of my students and parents and sharing all the fun we are having in kindergarten! Lastly, I wanted to share a picture of me on my first day of kindergarten many years ago. I think the students might enjoy seeing their teacher as a kindergartener too.
