Happy Bear visited our kindergarten classes, and she taught us about good touches, bad touches, and mixed-up touches. They received lots of examples of each. Also, they learned what to say if they were uncomfortable with a touch. They should say, "Stop that, back off!" in a firm voice. Before Happy Bear left, they got to give her a hug or high-five. That made their day! Plus, they learned very important lessons about how to keep themselves safe.

Stone Soup!
We read the classic story, "Stone Soup." It's a story about greedy villagers who learn to share. Every student had to bring a food item for our soup (ie. carrots, celery, corn, tomatoes, broth, etc). Then, we made a soup with these ingredients just like in the story. Students helped me make the soup by placing ingredients into the crock pot. Also, each student got a chance to stir the soup. In the afternoon, we made special Thanksgiving place mats for our soup. Near the end of the day, our soup was ready to eat! We ate soup, crackers, and apple juice. It was delicious.

Turtle Racers in P.E.
Today, marked their first day using the turtle racers in P.E. The turtle racers require the students to actually steer. Plus, they are really fun! In math, we worked on addition problems to ten. The students were thrilled to complete a 1st grade addition worksheet. They did awesome! I have some very smart friends. Enjoy the pictures and the video clip!

Study Island
Today, the fifth graders came to teach us how to use the website: www.studyisland.com. Each kindergartener worked with a fifth grade student. They helped them log in and play the Study Island games on the laptops. The kids had a blast, and they learned a lot too! :-) You can even use Study Island at home. Log in with the username: kdgmc. Then, use the password: 1234. Next, you select your child's name from the list. Lastly, select a game and start learning!

Scooters in P.E.
This week, the students have been using scooters in P.E. The scooters are a great way to help them with their coordination. I visited them in P.E. today, and I managed to get a video clip of them on their scooters. They had a blast! Next week, they get to use turtle racers. They are so excited!
Here's a few pictures of them on the scooters:

A Turkey Project
Today, we made turkeys for a Thanksgiving bulletin board. First, they cut out the turkeys. Next, they colored the turkey feathers. Each feather had a color word that they had to read. Then, they glued the feathers to their turkey. Our bulletin board looks great and is very colorful!
We also had fitness today. In the morning, we went on a long walk outside. In the afternoon, we went outside and learned some fun stretches. Also, the Roadrunner mascot from our local hockey team came to visit us for fitness day. Every student got to meet him and give him a high-five.
Here they are holding up their finished turkeys:
