Yesterday, we celebrated I's 6th birthday. He brought in delicious cupcakes to share with the class. They really enjoyed them.
Today was the last day of school. Of course, we had to celebrate the end of the school year with Popsicles.
It was a "sweet" way to end the year.

Water Fun Day!
On Wednesday, the students had their last Junior Achievement class. They received a certificate and a goodie bag. One of the items in the goodie bag was a package of seeds. The students were so excited to go home and plant those seeds.

In the afternoon, they had Water Fun Day. There were many activities at Water Fun Day. The students were able to switch activities at any time. The activities they could choose from were:
1. the water sprinkler
2. water balls
3. blowing bubbles
4. drawing with sidewalk chalk
5. playing on the playground equipment
After they finished Water Fun Day, they got to eat ice cream sandwiches. It really was a fun day!

Water-Coloring Fish
We did a simple, fun art project today. The students water-colored fish. Then, they cut out the fish and glued them to a blue piece of paper (the water). They love to water-color, so they had a blast. They also went to the computer lab for the last time as kindergarteners. Please keep these fun/educational websites in mind for over the summer:
1. www.pbskids.org - reading, math, and science games
2. www.starfall.com - mostly reading with some math games
3. www.sesamestreet.org - reading, math, and science games
4. http://em-ccss.everydaymathonline.com/g_login.html - This is a website aligned with our math standards. They've played on it many times. Parents were given cards earlier in the year with log-ins and passwords. However, I will be sending home their computer cards with those passwords on it this week. It's very important they practice the kindergarten games and begin working on the 1st grade games throughout the summer. We don't want them to lose any of the incredible progress they have made. Just dedicate anywhere from 30-45 minutes of educational computer time 3 to 5 times per week. You can play with them, since there are 2 player games. I'm off my soap box now. :-)
We also celebrated E's 6th b-day.

Mother's Day Cards
Today, we made special cards for Mother's Day. First, the students folded a piece of red paper into a card. Then, we cut out another paper that was needed for the front and inside of the card. It was a strawberry theme because moms are so sweet. :-) Then, they glued these pieces of paper to the front and inside of the card. After gluing them, they colored the strawberries and strawberry vines. Lastly, the students filled out the cards with lovely words of why they love their moms. There was a lot of care put into these cards, and they turned out great. The final touch was their school picture added to the front. I hope all of the moms enjoy these "berry" sweet cards.
Yesterday, we celebrated M's 6th birthday. He brought in yummy M&M cookies to share with us.
