Here's two pictures of our class in front of our decorated Christmas tree:
Today, we read two gingerbread books: "Gingerbread Friends" and "The Gingerbread Pirates." Also, we made a graph of our favorite gingerbread books. The students had to choose which gingerbread book was their favorite:
Gingerbread Boy
Gingerbread Girl
Gingerbread Baby
Gingerbread Cowboy
We ended up having a tie between "The Gingerbread Girl" and "The Gingerbread Cowboy."
Today, we made gingerbread cookies. The students used a cookie cutter to make their gingerbread cookie. Then, they used M&Ms and sprinkles to decorate their cookies. We baked them and left them in our room to cool, while we went to lunch and library. When we came back, they were gone! Those tricky gingerbread cookies left a clue: a picture of a piano. We knew that meant they were headed to the music room. In the music room, we found another clue: a picture of a basketball. We headed to the gym and found an X, so we went to the Explorations room. Guess what? Our gingerbread cookies were in there! We kept a tight hold on them, until we got back to our room. Then, we ate those gingerbread cookies. It was deliciously fun! In the afternoon, we read the story, "The Gingerbread Baby." Also, volunteers from United Way came to share a story called, "Penguins, Penguins Everywhere. Then, they were nice enough to give each student that very same book. We were very thankful. :-)
