Today was Dr. Seuss' birthday. To celebrate this special day, we made cool Cat in the Hat masks. We also discussed how Dr. Seuss created many silly characters with strange names and looks. We thought back to some of the characters from the Dr. Seuss books I have recently read to them. Then, I told them they were going to design their own crazy character. I asked the students to draw what they think a Dizzledoop might look like. They turned on their imaginations and had a blast designing their Dizzledoops. Some of the students drew horns or purple hair and one girl even drew her Dizzledoop with chocolate chips raining down on top of it. Of course, we also read some more Dr. Seuss books.
